My review of first year

Updated: Feb 1, 2020

Hi lovelies.

Now it's the season a lot of youngins, as I like to think of them as a final year student, are walking through the doors of their chosen universities in order to pursue their higher qualifications. Whether you're abroad or a 20 minute drive from your house, going to uni for the first time is scary. Like, properly so. In light of that, I decided to come along and finally share a review of my first year, what I liked, loved and hated.

To give some more insight I am studying at a specialised university for advertising and its quite small as specialised schools are. Personally, I do not thrive in places like these but I also feel like it has forced me to grow as a person.

Keeping in with the positive light, I realized how much I actually enjoy my degree within the first month and that was super motivating. I wanted to do as well as I could and was able to see where my strengths and weaknesses within this degree were. I have a video where I explained how I got 4/5 distinctions for that year here

Outside of the lands and valleys of academia, I met a bunch of friends that I'm still super close to. When you go to a small school as an introvert there's a chance you won't get on with everyone, but you're also not confined to your degree. Make an effort to make friends that are in higher years and be kind to kids in lower years but also face your books hun.

First-year is the time to figure out what works for you and what doesn't in all of the university aspects. For example, I know that I always find the first semester harder and more packed than the second and thus have to work about three times harder in order to get the grades I want. I know that I work best in certain parts of the campus and I most importantly know who I can turn to for help and advice. Knowing these things makes your experience a lot easier.

Overall, my first year was super fun. I learned a lot, got good grades, found my circle and started my channel. Although mentally I faced a lot of adversity, I can objectively say my university experience was properly rad. That said, it can get rough, but that's something for my 2nd year in review :)

Love

T.
