Hi Lovelies.
Lately, I've been thinking about ways to dig myself out of the rut I've been in mentally. Personally, I struggle a lot with mental health and experience bouts of depression and anxiety from time to time. The following tips that I have here have helped me personally and although I'm not a health professional I wanted to share tips that I've gotten from others that have helped me :)
1. Move
I swear this can seem like the hardest thing to when your mental health is declining but it is so so so good for you. I promise. Moving, taking a walk, stretching or even mild exercise if you feel up to it, can prevent you from falling into an episode.
2. Drink water
Drinking water helps when you feel like dissolving into nothing. it rehydrates a system you may have never noticed was getting dehydrated. It refreshes you.
3. Take a nap
This may or may not be my answer to every problem I have. Taking a nap allows for your body to reset if your declining mental health is from an abundance of pressure. This so far is my fave. However, if you are sleeping too much or too little, chronically it could be a sign of an underlying issue with your mental health.
4. Eat something.
Just as drinking water and hydration of your body is important, so is nourishing it well. Even when you feel too far to eat, showing up for yourself is an important part of self-care.
5. Take a shower or bath.
Its refreshing, relaxing and a personal fave. Showers may or may not be my defence mechanism now.
6. Journal
Or finding another form of self-expression. It's a way of offloading some of your heavy emotions onto paper and can even bring you some clarity.
7. Go outside
Fresh air is refreshing and good for you. If you can, I would highly recommend going out, for a walk or even just chilling outside for a change of scenery
8. Speak to someone you trust.
I find that vocalising how I feel prevents me from spiralling so I would suggest calling a friend or hanging out with someone you can trust to help you realise that sometimes you're just too zoomed in
9. Watch a nice relaxing YouTuber or one of your fave TV shows with a snack and a beverage.
Helps you come out of your thoughts a bit
10. Stay offline.
When you feel overloaded, its best to just stay offline as social media is just a loud place where a lot can be bombarded at you at once. Do something peaceful and analogue instead
.
I hope this serves you.
Love
T.
